The state publishes campus SAT results by student group, so that is how they appear here. Scores are averages for public school test-takers; sections run 200-800 each.

"College-ready" is the share of test-takers meeting the criterion on the SAT or ACT; "took SAT/ACT" is test-takers per graduate and can top 100% where many juniors test.

The math and reading gaps between groups are the same size, but the college-ready shortfall is overwhelmingly math, because the math bar sits higher. The finding, with the charts.
Averages are among students who chose to test, and who tests differs by group; the SAT was rescaled in 2016, so trends start at 2017. Benchmarks are the College Board section benchmarks. Data: Texas Education Agency TAPR campus reports.
